‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury’ – Book Review
If you loved the Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game, you’ll definitely want to pick up the official prequel to the game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury.
Miles Morales is dealing with a lot. In addition to dealing with the loss of his father, he is also moving into a new neighbourhood and still trying to figure out the superpowers thing. Attempting to make the best of a lot of life-changing and emotional moments, Miles has a run-in with law enforcement, leaving him trying to find what the true meaning of the word hero is–especially because he is part of a world that sees him and automatically labels him as the villain. Now, Miles must choose what kind of Spider-Man he wants to be and it’s not easy.
When Vulture and his new accomplice, Starling begin to inflict damage upon the city, Miles knows what he has to do. He knows he cannot stand by and watch idly when lives are in danger. So, alongside fellow web-slinger, Peter Parker, Miles needs to make some hard decisions and decide whether or not he can step up and become the hero Peter believes he can be.
From the best-selling author of Slay, Brittney Morris, comes the timely Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury. Set as an official prequel to the recently released video game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury is a book that is hard to set down once you begin reading it. Morris writes Miles with ease and it’s a joy to read. Morris does a great job with giving the reader so much insight into whatever Miles is thinking and there is a lot the teen is thinking about. Still working through his grief and trying to be a superhero on top of that is clearly exhausting. But Miles still does his best to be upbeat, despite all that is happening around him.
The way that this book explores Miles’s growth as a person and as Spider-Man is well-written and something that many are likely to relate to, even if they aren’t superheroes. There is a great mix of heart, laughter, seriousness and superhero shenanigans to keep every reader entertained and on the edge of their seats. But where it shines most, is the feeling of hopefulness it leaves the reader with and how grounded in realism this novel is. It is an element that will pull readers in and it is a true testament to Morris’s writing. If you’re a fan of Miles Morales, Spider-Man: Miles Morales – Wings of Fury is a must-read!
