‘Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ Is The Perfect Launch Title For The PS5 – Review
It’s been seven years since we’ve received a new console from Sony and with a new generation comes new launch titles. The original PlayStation had Rayman, PlayStation 2 launched with Madden NFL, Call of Duty 3 was the star of the PS3 line up and Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag was a standout for the PS4.
This holiday season, the PS5 has its grand release with one of the best launch games in recent memory – Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Only one more week until this incredible new console and game is in your hands. Get hype!

I loved every second of Spider-Man: Miles Morales from start to finish. It truly is something special and I’m grateful it was the first game I got to play on the PlayStation 5. I’ve been a big fan of Miles Morales for a for a while now, and in addition to the comic books, many got to know him with the hit film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Now, more people than ever will get a chance to fall in love with this deserving hero who’s had quite the journey from being a new Spider-Man in the comics to finding his place on the big screen, to leading his very own launch game. Miles is on the come up with his own story and a lot of fun along the way.
In this latest adventure in PlayStation’s Spider-Verse, teenager Miles Morales is adjusting to his new home while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as a new Spider-Man. But when a fierce power struggle threatens to destroy his new home, the aspiring hero realizes that with great power, there must also come great responsibility. To save all of New York, Miles must take up the mantle of Spider-Man and own it.
When you play as Miles with the new PlayStation DualSense controller, you truly feel like Spider-Man. The new technology featuring HD rumbles and haptic feedback certainly offer a new “spider-sense” control. I remember playing the 2018 Spider-Man game and being blown away. The speed, movement and motion of our favorite web-slinger in a vibrant and fresh New York City was something to behold.
When I booted up Miles’s adventure on PS5, I immediately noticed the fast loading using the ultra-high speed SSD. I also got that same feeling ten times. Miles Morales is next-gen. From its ray-tracing to it’s style to its graphics and motion, Insomniac Games has created a must-play launch title. Seeing the new hero fling across the city is breathtaking. Miles swings a little looser than his mentor and brings great vibes to it.
The combat in the game was a standout. Each one of Miles’s punches, web shots and venom blasts was felt due to the immersive haptic feedback of the DualSense controller. The effects of the Undergrounds wearable technology and the way they incorporate Miles’s new powers in fights were next level. The “Venom Strike” is a new bioelectric power that the OG Spider-Man (Peter Parker) never had. These differences make Miles’s power set unique and exciting to master as they weave his newfound skills into the story.
If you’re able to get your hands on Spider-Man: Miles Morales, I definitely recommend doing so. You will not be disappointed! Be sure to let us know your thoughts on the game when you have the chance to play.
