The rumors are true, Pedro Pascal has landed the leading role in Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian for Disney+.

The series will be set between the fall of the Empire from George Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy, and the rise of the First Order. Pascal will play a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far far away from the New Republic.

It was previously announced that Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) will direct the first episode of the series. Taikia Watiti (Thor: Ragnarok), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones) are amongst the directors who will helm additional episodes. 

Favreau is scripting the show and executive producing along with Filoni, Colin Wilson, and Kathleen Kennedy. 

The news of Pascal’s casting comes after the announcement that Diego Luna will reprise his role of Cassian Andor from Star Wars: Rogue One in his very own solo series on the new Disney streaming service. 

Pascal can next be seen in the latest film from Barry Jenkins, If Beale Street Could Talk.
