Jerrod Carmichael Will Take Over Eddie Murphy’s Role in the Remake of ’48 Hrs’

Joshua and Ben Safdie, the filmmakers behind the crime-thriller Good Time are looking to remake the 1982 crime comedy 48 Hrs. Starring Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte, played the roles of a convict and cop who have 48 hours to catch two cop killers in San Fransisco. The original film is often given credit for aside-from kickstarting the silver-screen career of a young Eddie Murphy, but a timestamp for the dawn of the buddy cop genre which dominated in the 80’s and 90’s.

Stepping into the shoes of Eddie Murphy will be Jerrod Carmichael, best known from The Carmichael Show. In addition to acting, Carmichael will also uphold the script by co-writing along with Joshua Safdie. Similar to Murphy, this will be Carmichael’s first time taking the lead in a major film.
