*WARNING! Spoilers for The Defenders below!!*

Still here? Ok, you’ve been warned my friend. Charlie Cox’s Daredevil was the first Marvel/Netflix series to pioneer the chain of series we have now that led up to The Defenders back in 2015. Daredevil is arguably the best Netflix/Marvel adaptation that they’ve released so far, I mean.. that second season though, right? Charlie Cox seems to think even that can be topped!

Cox spoke with THR about what comic book storyline Daredevil‘s 3rd season will pick up. As you may know, The Defenders ended with the world and the rest of the team believing Matt Murdok to be dead but that’s not the case. We see a beaten up Daredevil in a convent having his wounds treated when someone says to let “Maggie” know that he’s waking up. This is straight out of the Born Again comic-book arc and is a fan favorite! Here’s what Cox had to say about the matter:

“For sure. That’s such an amazing story. Everyone who loves Daredevil loves Born Again. You can’t not. And if that’s the case, then the implications of that would be very exciting to me. That would be great. Having said that, I know we don’t tend to follow any story blueprints too closely, because if you do, then you become a foregone conclusion. There may be elements from Born Again, but I’m sure there will be elements that are unfamiliar and surprising and different in order for the show to be compelling to fans who know the comics very well. If we start making Born Again page-for-page, then the people who have read it and loved it — the hardcore fans — they won’t have too much drama.”

If its one thing Daredevil show runners are good at, it’s using the comic book stories and expertly adding their own twist to it for the show.

No word yet on when season 3 drops, but filming is set to begin in October. For now, you can catch The Defenders on Netflix now!
