Alex Hirsch Named Story Contributor for Animated Spider-Man Film

According to The Wrap Alex Hirsch will be a story contibutor for the upcoming animated Spider-Man movie.

Hirsch is best-known as the creator of the Disney XD series, Gravity Falls which follows siblings Dipper and Mabel while they investigate supernatural happenings in the town they live in with their great-uncle, Stan. The show wrapped up last year.

Hirsch joins writers Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) and Philip Lord on the project, while Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will produce the film alongside former Sony chair, Amy Pascal.

The movie’s direction will fall to both Bob Persichetti and Peter Ramsay.

In January, it was confirmed that the film will feature new Spider-Man, Miles Morales as the protagonist.

The film will apparently ‘co-exist’ with the live-action Spider-Man film projects, but still be a separate entity from any Spidey live-action movies.

The untitled Spider-Man animated film is set to swing into theaters on December 21st, 2018.
