Ryan Coogler’s Sinners is now in theatres!

Ahead of the film’s release, I had the pleasure of sitting down with some of the cast to chat about their experience working on Sinners.

Wunmi Mosaku, Michael B. Jordan, and Hailee Steinfeld shine in Sinners. Their characters bring fantastic energy to the fray every time they appear on screen. The trio told me their experiences when they learned they would be a part of Coogler’s next film, the journeys of their characters in Sinners, and more.

Check out the full interview with Wunmi Mosaku, Michael B. Jordan, and Hailee Steinfeld below:

When the question was posed about their experience learning they would be part of Sinners, and reading the script, Jordan described his as an uninteresting and straightforward experience – something his co-stars disagreed with.

Jordan shared, “Mine’s like, not even interesting, because it’s so straightforward, you know? Like, I was, you know, I was pitching a project to him, and he was, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s cool.’ He listened to me for like, for about, you know, f***ing an hour. And then he was like, ‘Yeah, but I got this.’ And I was like – I read it, and I was like, ‘All right, cool when do we start?’ You know, and it was pretty much that simple.”

Steinfeld jumped in with, ” That’s so annoying that’s not interesting to you. You know, I wasn’t pitching to Ryan when I heard about this, but you know…”

A special element of Sinners is the characters and the journeys they go on throughout the film. Mosaku spoke of reading the script and how she felt about the characters written on the page.

Mosaku said, “I feel like when I read that script, I’d never cared about every single character on the page in such a way. Whether it’s someone who has, like, two scenes at the beginning of the film, I cared about their journey, and that all the journeys are complete. I mean, as in, they all have a journey, and a lesson, and an opening and an understanding.”
