Janelle Monáe has released another single in advance of her new album Dirty Computer’s release. Aptly titled “I Like That”, the sultry single finds Monáe singing about the different sides that work together to make her who she is. As many of us have found, our eccentricities can be be either charming or offputting to others. She recalls in the song’s chorus that she values her individuality and isn’t going to surrender it for anyone:

Later in the song, Monáe describes a time in her younger years when her peers labeled her as “weird” and how their rtatings of her made her feel. Nevertheless, she persisted.
The fourth single off Monáe’s follow-up to 2013’s The Electric Lady, “I Like That” is sure to resonate with the “different” ones among us and serve as an empowerment anthem. Dirty Computer is scheduled to release on April 27th, in what Monáe describes as a “a narrative film and accompanying musical album.”
