The second season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is now streaming on Prime Video.
Ahead of the show’s season two debut, I had the chance to chat with Showrunner Patrick McKay and Executive Producer Lindsey Weber about the new season, any changes to their approach this time around and some of their favourite places in Middle-earth.
When asked what it was like to return to The Rings of Power for a second season, McKay said, “I think one of the things I’ve been saying is it’s like anything you, you know, do a second time. Hopefully you’re coming to it with the knowledge of having been there before, and hopefully that, you know, benefits the show creatively in countless ways we couldn’t even be able to name, just in terms of the institutional knowledge.”
Following McKay’s words, Weber jokingly said, “I was gonna say it felt great, but actually, our first day of shooting was 60 orcs in a dark room trying to kill some people. So maybe, maybe that was the wrong feeling.”

Just like the previous season, the second season of The Rings of Power looks just as stunning as the first. Of course, I wanted to know if McKay and Weber had the chance to live or stay somewhere in the world we’ve seen in the series, where they would decide to go.
“Well, I like the dwarves. They’re good. They’re a good hang, you know? they’re funny and they drink. So yeah!” McKay said.
Weber shared, “I mean, the forest. The Elven in Lindon – it’s hard to argue with how beautiful it is. They also have very nice clothes and nice jewelry. But yeah, I think for me, I would pick Lindon.”
