Witches are back in action in the MCU with the release of Agatha All Along.
Ahead of the series release, I had the chance to chat with EP Mary Livanos about the series. We discussed working on this series after the events of WandaVision, Marvel’s women superheroes and characters, surviving an Agatha-themed escape room, what she hopes fans take away from the series, and much more!
As Livanos served as a producer on WandaVision and The Marvels, I asked Livanos what it was like working on those two projects and returning to the familiar character of Agatha Harkness in Agatha All Along.
Livanos said, “I was so thrilled to be able to continue Agatha Harkness’ story. I definitely did not know that was an opportunity that we would have when we were making WandaVision. Agatha was a pretty obscure character that Kathryn Hahn took into her own hands and created something magnetic and impactful that fans really responded to, and it was that incredible performance and the incredible fan response that allowed us to continue her story. So I just feel incredibly lucky to have worked on WandaVision, on The Marvels, on these incredible stories about awesome women and the fact that fans love them is why we’re able to keep on sharing more.”
Having already worked with some badass women from the Marvel Universe, I was curious to know if there were some characters that Livanos would like to have the opportunity to work on if given the chance.

“Oh my gosh, what a good–that’s such a good question,” Livanos said. “I read Next Wave: Agents of H.A.T.E., which is a really cool run that just tells more about Monica Rambeau, who I love. But my gosh, there’s, I mean, we have an incredible catalog of over 3000 characters. I think what’s so great about working on these shows is that once you get your hands on them and cast the role, they become something all new and all different. So really, the opportunities are quite endless.”
You never know how MCU fans will react to a series or a film when it releases, but Livanos didn’t seem worried.
When I asked what she hoped viewers would take away from the series, she said, “What I hope that folks take away from Agatha All Along is just our philosophy about witches. Witches can be anyone. They can be anything. And in our witch lore, we say that within a certain mile radius, there’s a group of witchy enough people to create a coven. And I just really love what that says about sisterhood and community in general.”
