DC Studios has found its Lobo, and it is an actor who is no stranger to DC characters and lore: Jason Momoa.
In the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Momoa will star as the villainous Czarnian opposite Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) as the titular Kryptonian.
Lobo was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen and made his DC debut in Omega Men #3 back in 1983.

Previously, Momoa starred as Aquaman (a.k.a. Arthur Curry) in various films throughout the DCEU, including Aquaman and Zack Snyder’s Justice League, having been introduced as the character in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Momoa is a self-declared fan of the bounty hunter and even believed that when he auditioned for BvS, the character he would play would be Lobo. The actor first thought he was auditioning to play Batman, but he almost didn’t do it because he thought it was “silly.” However, after the “run-of-the-mill” audition, Ben Affleck was announced as the Caped Crusader.
When Momoa was called back in, he assumed he’d be playing the villain Lobo because “There’s are not too many guys who can kick the s*** out of those two.” However, he was cast as Aquaman, bringing a refreshing new take on the character.
Momoa shared the following post on his Instagram today with the caption: “They called.”
The screenshot shared by Momoa was from a past interview where he expressed his enjoyment of the character and how if they ever asked him to portray Lobo, it would be a “F*** yeah.”
Slated for a June 2026 release, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be directed by Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) and based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic mini-series of the same name.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be DC Studios’ second feature film following the summer 2025 release ofSuperman.
