Halloween festivities have officially begun at Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure Park, bringing double the excitement for visitors. With both parks embracing the spooky season, there’s plenty of fun to go around.
This year, Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort begins earlier than ever, with celebrations starting on August 23, 2024, and lasting through October 31, 2024. Meanwhile, at Disney California Adventure, guests can experience The Plaza de la Familia and A Musical Celebration of Coco in honor of Día de los Muertos from August 23, 2024, until November 2, 2024.
Check out some of our highlights from Halloween Time below:
We want to highlight a brief chat we had with Jada Young, one of the Disney Ambassadors for the resort.
Young said, “The fall season at Disneyland Resort, including Halloween Time and Plaza de la Familia, has always been special to me as both a cast member and a guest. I love that we have a variety of ways for guests to celebrate, whether it be through food, culture, or creative décor.”
Young also expressed her admiration for the effort put into making the season magical for visitors each year: “Each year, I am in awe of the detail that our Resort Enhancement cast members put into decorating the resort, with iconic pieces like the giant Mickey Mouse Pumpkin on Main Street, U.S.A., and the Día de los Muertos display in Frontierland—there is always something new to see!”
Fall Eats

Plenty of new menu items were introduced during Halloween Time! We got to taste what’s available throughout our day, exploring the park. We began the day with the Philly potato dog, the perfect size for sharing. We then grabbed the Transylvania Transfusion, a berry non-alcoholic beverage. The tart berries offset the sweetness, making it the ideal refreshment for the hot day! The churro loops con cajeta and pumpkin cream puff were delicious Autumn treats. But, the show’s star on the Disneyland side was the Mexican iced hot chocolate! I don’t typically gravitate toward chocolate drinks, but this was divine.
Before leaving, we headed over to California Adventure to grab the mandarin and dragonfruit margaritas! They were both tasty, but if we had to choose, our favorite was the mandarin! The drinks paired perfectly with the spicy pork tacos. The tacos are an Asian-fusion dish with flavor profiles that complement each other well. They feature kimchi, cucumber, carrots, and pickled onions with a sriracha aïoli in a flour tortilla. Between this and the Philly potato dog, we don’t know which savory treat we’d recommend more!

Haunted Mansion Holiday
Fans will have the chance to mingle with Santa Jack once more, just in time for the autumn season, you foolish mortals! Jack Skellington and the residents of Halloween Town have cast their magic over the spooky mansion, transforming it into the festive Haunted Mansion Holiday, inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas. As the revamped queue takes shape, Haunted Mansion Holiday will only be accessible through a virtual queue when it reopens. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in this incredibly fun, spooky world!
Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show

For the first time, as a daily feature this season, the interactive “Mickey’s Trick and Treat” show invites younger visitors to sing and dance along with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse at the Disney Theater in Disney California Adventure Park. With vibrant projections and an energetic host dressed as a mad scientist, this fun-filled, spooky experience will surely leave a lasting impression!
Cars Land
Jada Young also highlighted the Halloween transformation in Disney California Adventure Park.

“Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park transforms into ‘Radiator Screams’ during Halloween Time, and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween and Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree are must-do attractions!” Young said. “It’s so fun to experience both beloved attractions transformed with a seasonal twist, and they’re great options for families and friends of all ages to experience together.”
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark

Every evening, Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! changes into Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark, unleashing terrifying creatures and chaotic fiends alongside its heart-pounding drops. Though the Guardians have made their escape from the Collector’s Fortress, Groot has been left behind by mistake. Rocket needs your assistance to divert the unleashed monsters to save Groot in this thrilling seasonal overlay.
Plaza de la Familia Celebrates Día de los Muertos

Inspired by the traditions of Día de los Muertos, Plaza de la Familia brings vibrant music, colorful décor, festive foods, and lively entertainment to Disney California Adventure Park through November 2, 2024.
Be sure to visit the iconic “Árbol de la Vida” (Tree of Life) photo spot and memory wall. Fans of Plaza de la Familia will recognize the celebration’s core tribute to Pixar’s beloved film Coco. This year’s “The Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia Celebrate The Musical World of Coco!” showcases the lasting bonds of family through music, dance, and a whimsical portrayal of Miguel. Guests can also enjoy colorful depictions of the spirit guides Dante and Pepita.
With so many thrilling attractions, festive shows, and cultural celebrations, Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure Park promises a magical experience for visitors of all ages. From the enchanting transformation of Cars Land and the eerie Haunted Mansion Holiday to the vibrant Plaza de la Familia honoring Día de los Muertos, every corner of the parks is alive with Halloween spirit.
