The ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) continues to grow with Thunderbolts*.

The film brings together a team of misfits, including previously seen characters such as Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). Of course, there are also new faces, including Bob (Lewis Pullman) and Mel (Geraldine Viswanathan).

Ahead of the film’s theatrical release, I had the opportunity to chat with Geraldine Viswanathan, Lewis Pullman, and Hannah John-Kamen to discuss their roles, their excitement about the MCU, new costumes and more!

Check out the full interview with Geraldine Viswanathan, Lewis Pullman & Hannah John-Kamen below:

Viswanathan and Pullman are newcomers to the MCU in Thunderbolts*, and the pair had a great experience joining the film, with Pullman playfully asking Viswanathan to speak on both their behalves.

Viswanathan said, “Really good, really crazy. Okay, Lewis and I are huge Marvel fans, and it’s been our dream to join this universe from the very start. And I think, you know, it kind of just this opportunity, just like appeared, and it was, we kind of like went in blind, and it was just this really exhilarating, but also daunting thing and world to nter. But we’re here now, baby!”

Things were different for John-Kamen because she’d previously joined the MCU as Ghost in Ant-Man and the Wasp, but she was excited to return to the character.

John-Kamen said, “It was amazing. It’s an honor, you know, to not only be asked – well, it’s an honour to not be killed in the first one, thank you! And it’s an honour – I mean, it’s amazing. It’s a beautiful story to come into. I couldn’t have wished to have come back in any other way. And, yeah, it’s been such a beautiful process this movie and Ghost as well. And, I mean, this is where she came back in the in the comic books, and that’s where I did my research, initially for Ava Starr or Ghost, which was Ava Starr’s origin. But coming back in this movie, it’s just the actors, you know, it’s the characters, the story, the whole thing, it’s been amazing.”

A thrilling part of any superhero movie experience is the costumes. In Thunderbolts*, John-Kamen gets a new suit for Ghost, while Pullman experienced his first MCU suit.

John Kamen said, “I mean, the new suit for Ghost is absolutely amazing. I mean, the costume team are just absolute geniuses. I mean, it lights up. It’s incredible. I mean, what I love about Ghost’s costume before was kind of this, you know, the gray one was kind of this man made one that was put together by her and Bill Foster but this one, it’s like, this suit was made for her, you know? It’s got this different energy. Yeah, it was incredible.”

Pullman said, “Yeah, I’ve never worn a costume like that in my whole life. I mean, it’s literally made specifically tailored for your body. And they do a whole full body scan, which is kind of vulnerable and then it’s made out of these, this quality of fabric that feels like it’s from another planet. And, yeah, it’s quite difficult to get on, and it’s quite difficult to get off, and you got to monitor how much water you’re drinking, because you don’t want to interrupt the day. And I got very close with an awesome costumer named Ryan Dempsey, who we became so good. We were like a pit crew, like it was like, we got it down to, like, 10 minutes, I think. And in the beginning was half an hour.”

Thunderbolts* is now playing in theatres.
