The highly anticipated second part of Zack Snyder’s epic space opera, Rebel Moon, is now streaming on Netflix.

Leading up to the release of Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, I had the opportunity to speak with actors Djimon Hounsou, Elise Duffy and Staz Nair about the film. The trio spoke about building kinship on set over the nine months of filming and Hounsou’s scene-stealing singing in Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver.

Check out the interview with Djimon Hounsou, Elise Duffy and Staz Nair below:

For those who’ve seen the film, you’ll know that there is a poignant moment where all of the rebels are sitting around the table, speaking about the events that led them to their current circumstances in PartTwo. The scene is very organic, showing the kinship between the characters extended to the actors as well.

“It was an absolute pleasure. You know, it always makes your job easier when you trust and feel comfortable and feel closer to your cast members. And well, you’re not always lucky with that, you know? You know, you’re often fortunate enough with people that are kind, of people who are talented, hardworking, but also putting all that together and then getting along with all the different age gaps, cultural gaps, whatever gender gaps, whatever you want to talk about, that sometimes can make things convoluted or pressurised,” Nair said.

“Quite rewarding. You know, that was the only time we had really, in terms of characters or in terms of persons, you know, within ourselves to sort of connect. And that was the probably the most tangible and nurturing scene for all of us,” Hounsou added.

Hounsou’s General Titus plays an integral role in Part Two, and his character has a spellbinding moment of song in a scene where the rebels are gathered in celebration with the citizens of Veldt.

“But this was my first time really singing – the first time I actually happened to do that was in Amistad. But this that was more like an angered to sort of chant. And this was really more purposeful and quite empowering,” Hounsou shared.

“Yeah, there was like a stillness that night. That’s what I remember. We were all so moved and so captured by what was happening there. It was just, it was incredible,” Duffy said.

Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is streaming on Netflix.
