The cast has been revealed for the upcoming Children of Blood and Bone film adaptation.
Children of Blood and Bone is a popular fantasy series based on Tomi Adeyemi’s best-selling novel. It was first published in 2018 and debuted at number one on the New York Times Best Seller list for young adult (YA) books.
Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King, Love & Basketball) will direct the movie adaptation for Paramount. She will direct a star-studded cast that includes Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, and Tosin Cole as the main characters.

Mbedu will portray Zélie, a young woman who is the daughter of a powerful sorceress. Having inherited her mother’s abilities, Zélie is noticed by the tyrannical King Saran, who Academy Award nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor will play.
Mbedu’s The Woman Kingcastmates will join her in Children of Blood and Bone, with Viola Davis as Mama Agba and Lashana Lynch as Jumoke.
In other key roles, Stenberg will portray Princess Amari, while Damson Idris will play her brother, Prince Inan. The royal siblings cross paths with Zélie and her brother, Tzain (Cole), who work together to challenge the king’s rule.
Rounding out the cast are Idris Elba as Lekan and Cynthia Erivo as Admiral Kaea.
Regina King, Bukky Bakray, and Diaana Babnicova are currently in negotiations to join the cast as Queen Nehanda, Binta and Folake, respectively.
The filming of Children of Blood and Bone will begin in South Africa in the next few weeks.
