The first images from The Old Guard 2 have been revealed by Netflix. It’s been far too long since Gina Price-Bythewood introduced the world to the team of action warriors who have been keeping the planet safe over the course of centuries. But Andromache (Charlize Theron) is ready to jump back into action in the sequel that promises to be more electrifying than the first installment. Victoria Mahoney will be the filmmaker responsible of tackling the sequel for Netflix. The director previously worked on the first episode of Suits L.A. Netflix has kept the world waiting long enough, but the streaming platform has released explosive images to make up for lost time.
The Old Guard 2 will reunite audiences with the team of immortal agents who fight to protect humanity. Things will get very complicated for the gang because Quỳnh (Veronica Ngô) is back. The woman who was accused of witchcraft has been repeatedly drowning in the ocean for 500 years. Now that she’s finally free to escape from her prison, she wants to look for revenge against the team that failed to find her. Quỳnh believes that Andy left her behind on purpose. The two are now set on a collision course that will define the fate of the world.
The cast of The Old Guard 2 will also include Kiki Layne as Nile Freeman, Marwan Kenzari as Joe and Luca Marinelli as Nicky. The warriors viewers first saw five years ago will be coming back for another story that could reveal more about the origins of their condition. Greg Rucka wrote the screenplay for Andy’s next adventure. The artist previously worked with Netflix when he came up with the idea for the story depicted in Heart of Stone. The stage has been set for Andy’s team to delight audiences again in the new sequel.
The Old Guard 2 premieres on Netflix on July 2.
