Lionsgate kicked off day three of CinemaCon with a bang!

The entertainment company previewed over 10 titles from their upcoming slate, and their sizzle reel promises a bright future for the studio. In the captivating montage, they detailed their box office successes and gave us sneak peeks of many films, including an upcoming sequel to Now You See Me. While we didn’t get footage, we were told that a new Blair Witch is in the works, and Margot Robbie and Hasbro are working on a Monopoly film. There was a little bit of everything.

In addition to previews of their film slate, audiences were graced with the presence of Henry Cavill, Halle Berry, Ariana Greenblatt, Aziz Ansari, and more.

Check out some of the biggest previews from Lionsgate’s presentation at CinemaCon below.

Michael

The audience was shook when the studio closed out its slate by debuting the entire trailer for Michael. The highly anticipated biopic detailing the life of the King of Pop has been on the audience’s must-see list for some time now. While we never had many details about the film, fans were relieved to know Bohemian Rhapsody producer Graham King and Training Day director Antoine Fuqua teamed up to tell the legend’s story. The film will feature over 30 songs and is currently set to release in theaters on April 18, 2025.

Ballerina

Ana de Armas stars in the John Wick spin-off Ballerina, and the trailer looks phenomenal. It will take place between the third and fourth installments of the franchise, with Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Wick. There is lots of action and the presence of a hurt woman seeking revenge, which aligns well with the series. The CinemaCon audience was told that the reason for the delay in the release was that additional shots were needed to complete the project. Ballerina has a release date of June 6, 2025.

In The Grey

Hollywood favorites Jake Gyllenhaal and Henry Cavill team up for Guy Ritchie’s In The Grey, with Eiza Gonzalez and Rosamund Pike along for the ride. Lionsgate revealed the full-length trailer to a film that no one expected, as there has been no chatter about it at all. With a cast like that, it was no surprise that the trailer was well received. The film follows three individuals who are the go-to people when you want to get back money that has been stolen from you. The trailer opens up with a humorous shootout scene between Cavill, Gonzalez, and Gyllenhaal against two bad guys. It’s currently in post-production, with a release date set for January 17, 2025.

Borderlands

Eli Roth brought a captivating trailer to CinemaCon and thrilled the audience. When asked what made him want to take on this film, he said, “You have a vision in your head; sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn’t…when the project came along, I really fought tooth and nail to get it.” This comes after studios have seen great success with adapting video games into movies. Ariana Greenblatt joined Roth on stage as they gushed about how great it was working with their A-list cast that includes Kevin Hart, Cate Blanchett, Jack Black, and Jamie Lee Curtis. Borderlands has a summer release set for August 9.

Good Fortune

Aziz Ansari brings some comedy to the Lionsgate slate as the actor introduced his film with many jokes in his entrance. Good Fortune follows Ansari’s character as he lives a rather unhappy, medium-waged life. He lands a small gig servicing Seth Rogen’s character, who is wealthy with a massive mansion on the hills. Keanu Reeves plays an angel sent to make Ansari’s character see that money doesn’t buy happiness and thus switches his life with Rogens. To Reeves’ surprise, his lesson doesn’t work and Ansari very much enjoys the rich lifestyle and doesn’t want to change back. The film gives us Reeves’ comedic side once again as he loses his job as an angel and plots to get Ansari to go back to his regular life. The official release date for the film has yet to be revealed.

Flight Risk

Mark Wahlberg’s next project is one we haven’t seen him play in a while. The actor steps into the villain role alongside Topher Grace and Michelle Dockery in director Mel Gibson’s latest thriller. The trailer shows Wahlberg with an interesting accent donning a chaotic hairstyle with a bald top half with hair on both sides. It will either be a hit or a miss, as the footage only shows the film taking place in a small aircraft. Currently, there is no release date.
