Nobi Nakanishi Talks ‘Hit Monkey’, Joining The Marvel Family & More

Marvel continues to expand its media presence, with phase 4 full steam ahead and full of new TV shows and movies. One of these new properties is the adult-animated television series, Hit Monkey. Originally a comic that made its debut in 2010, Hulu’s TV adaptation features a Japanese snow monkey who wreaks havoc within the Tokyo underworld, being mentored by the ghost of an assassin. The series features an all-star cast, including voice talents from Jason Sudeikis, Olivia Munn, Ally Maki, Nobi Nakanishi, Fred Tatasciore, and George Takei. With Archer-like comedy and animation, audiences will be in for a treat that is sure to set itself apart from other Marvel properties.

To give more insight into what looks like a lot of “monkey business”, Geeks of Color spoke with Nobi Nakanishi, who plays the character Ito. As a Japanese-American, Nakanishi stated that his identity allowed him to add more cultural context to the role and it became an opportunity of a lifetime for an already accomplished director and voice actor of the lauded audio drama The Leviathan Chronicles. Check out what Nakanishi had to say about the experience playing Ito, how he still can’t believe he worked with Marvel, and what to expect from Hulu’s latest Marvel property, Hit Monkey.
