‘Walking Dead’ Writer Robert Kirkman Gets New Animated Series Based On ‘Invincible’ Comic
Fans of the Image Comics Invincible are in for a huge treat as Amazon Studios has greenlit eight hour-long episodes to be produced based off the popular comic from Robert Kirkman. The series will premiere on Amazon Prime Video and will be able to be streamed in over 200 countries.
Invincible tells the story of “Invincible” aka Mark Grayson, the son of Omni-Man, the most powerful man on the planet. After turning seventeen, Mark’s own powers begin to surface and he takes up his father’s mantle of protecting the earth. Invincible ran for 15 years before ending in February of this year.
In a statement regarding the series, Kirkman could barely contain his excitement: ““I couldn’t be more proud of the series Cory Walker, Ryan Ottley and I did together for over 15 years. To know our characters will live on in multiple iterations in other media is almost too exciting to bear! What Amazon is allowing us to do in animated form is nothing short of ground-breaking, and I can’t wait for our rabid fan base to experience it!”
In addition to the series, there is also a film adaptation in the works at Universal Pictures with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg writing the script while David Alpert, Bryan and Sean Furst and Robert Kirkman himself are currently set to produce.
