Activision has finally confirmed the rumors that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will include a battle royale mode. The mode, called Blackout, will be played on the biggest map that Treyarch, the Black Ops developer, has ever made – nearly 1,500 times bigger than Nuketown.

The game mode will include fan favorite characters from the Call of Duty Zombie Origins cast. It’ll also include fan favorite weapons and include vehicles that can travel across land, air, and sea. Like most Battle Royales, there will be an option to play either solo or with a team.

Blackout will also featured class-based character customization, which Treyarch promises to fit in with Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3. Altogether, the game mode looks like it includes all of the features fans have come to love about the Black Ops franchise. As design director David Vonderhaar says in the trailer,

“It had to be unique and done in the way that online Black Ops can do.”

Blackout mode will find itself part of a huge increase in battle royale-style games and game modes. Do you think Blackout can compete with Fortnite and PUB:G? Do you see yourself picking up Black Ops 4 for Blackout? Let us know in the comments!
