Actor Domhnall Gleeson (Star Wars The Last Jedi, About Time) is in final talks to join the cast of the mob drama The Kitchen for New Line Cinema and DC Entertainment, starring alongside with Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss, and Melissa McCarthy.

Written and directed by Andrea Berloff (Straight Outta Compton), the film will be based on the comic book series by the same name, created by Ollie Masters and Ming Doyle from DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint, following the story of a group of wives of Irish mobsters that, after their husbands are sent to prison, take over their spouses’ organized crime operation and become the most ruthless and powerful gangsters in 1970s Hell’s Kitchen.

Gleeson is in talks to play Gabriel O’Malley, a Vietnam vet who worked for neighbourhood gangsters as a hitman before skipping town, later returning to “settle scores” after the wives take over, only that by the looks of it he’ll be the one in danger.

The film will be Berloff’s directorial debut, with Michael De Luca (The Social Network) producing it.
