Lakeith Stanfield Is In Talks to Join Gina Rodriguez in Netflix Rom-Com ‘Someone Great’
Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out, Sorry to Bother You, Atlanta) is in talks to join Gina Rodriguez in the rom-com she’s set to star and produce through Netflix, Something Great, which will also include Brittany Snow and DeWanda Wise in the cast.
Written and directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (MTV’s Sweet/Vicious), the film follows the story of a woman (Gina Rodriguez) who, after a horrible break-up, decides to embark on an adventure in New York City with her two best friends (Brittany Snow and DeWanda Wise) before moving across the country for her dream job.

Lakeith Stanfield will play the ex-boyfriend of Gina Rodriguez’ character.
As producers of the film, we have Rodriguez via her company I Can and I Will Productions. Feigco’s Dan Magnante, Likely Story’s Stefanie Azpiazu, as well as Robinson, are executive producers. Emily Gibson, also of I Can and I Will, is co-producing.
This marks the fifth time Stanfield collaborates with Netflix on a project, including the anime adaption Death Note and the upcoming drama Come Sunday.
