When the anticipation for the release of Black Panther began to rock pop culture, the #BlackPantherChallenge was created which saw many activists, philanthropists and celebrities donating and raising money to give children in under served communities the chance to see the film for free.

Now AMC Theaters and the non-profit organization Color Of Change are partnering together with the Give A Child The Universe initiative to do the same thing so that underprivileged children will be able to see the highly anticipated film, directed by the incomparable Ava DuVernay, A Wrinkle In Time.

Just like the world of Wakanda, this magical story of a young Black girl who aspires to Math and Science is just as important to the fight for inclusion in the industry today. Rashad Robinson, the Execuive of Director for Color Of Change, shared his thoughts on the importance of getting this film to the young minds it will impact the most. Here’s what he had to say:

“Color of Change believes in the power of images and supports those working to change the rules in Hollywood so that inclusive, empathetic and human portrayals of Black people and people of color are prominent on the screen. From Selma to now A Wrinkle In Time, Ava DuVernay has set out to change the rules in Hollywood for people of color and women. By casting a black teenage actress, Storm Reid, as the heroine at the center of this story, the filmmakers and the studio send a powerful message to millions of young people who will see someone like them embracing their individuality and strength to save the world.”

Starting today, individuals and group benefactors are encouraged to purchase and donate tickets for the film so kids can see a matinee show at their local AMC Theater.
