‘Black Lightning’ Is The CW’s Highest-Rated Premiere in Two Years
The CW’s highly anticipated Black Lightning series made its television debut last night and it premiered to high ratings.
According to Nielsen overnight data, the series premiere which began at 9 p.m. had 2.3 million viewers and drew a strong 0.8 rating with viewers between the ages of 18-49. Black Lightning also kept its lead with the key demo target and more than 90 percent of total viewers from The Flash which aired just before it at 8 p.m.
These statistics show that the Black Lightning premiere was on par with the premiere of Riverdale’s second season back in October. These numbers show that it was The CW’s highest-rated series premiere in two years since Legends of Tomorrow debuted.
Produced by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, Black Lightning stars Cress Williams in the title role with China Anne McClain and Nafessa Williams as Jennifer Pierce and Anissa Pierce/Thunder respectively.
