The CW’s highly anticipated Black Lightning series made its television debut last night and it premiered to high ratings.

According to Nielsen overnight data, the series premiere which began at 9 p.m. had 2.3 million viewers and drew a strong 0.8 rating with viewers between the ages of 18-49. Black Lightning also kept its lead with the key demo target and more than 90 percent of total viewers from The Flash which aired just before it at 8 p.m.

These statistics show that the Black Lightning premiere was on par with the premiere of Riverdale’s second season back in October. These numbers show that it was The CW’s highest-rated series premiere in two years since Legends of Tomorrow debuted.
