Animated Film ‘Chew’ No Longer Being Made, Might be A TV Series Instead

In regards to the upcoming animated feature, Chew, we have some good news and some bad news. The bad news: the film is officially no longer happening. However, the good news is that we could possibly be getting a television series for it instead.

If you have no idea what Chew even is, it’s a comic series written by John Layman with art by Rob Guillory and published under Image Comics. The series follows the adventures of a psychic detective named Tony Chu who solves his F.D.A. related crimes by getting a psychic sensation of what happened after eating a piece of the evidence, which usually turns out to be a victim.  The comic was first published in 2009 and ended last November, receiving two Eisner Awards and two Harvey Awards during its seven-year run.

in 2014, news broke of an animated movie being made based on the comic, and a voice cast even got announced which included Steven Yein, David Tennant, and Felicia Day. However, Layman, in a recent interview with Pursue News, announced that unfortunately, the film was no more. However, the author did hint that someone else in Hollywood was interested in trying to get a Chew series off the ground. The Showtime network did make an attempt at turning the book into a show back in 2011, but the series never even got to the developmental stage. Who knows? Maybe this time it will.

So are you sad about the film is no more? Would you rather have Chew as a tv show anyway? Tell us how you feel in the comments below!
