Last week, Justice League’s debut in China topped the Chinese box office at $52.1 million in sales. According to the LA Times, this boasted sales 30% higher than Wonder Woman, and 10% short of 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

In addition, last week China’s box office gained more than $7.55 billion in tickets for the first time in its history, with a growth of 15% in revenue since last year. Previous growth records showed the box office taking an increase of only 3.7% from 2015 to 2016. Some of the growth can be attributed to anticipated releases of big name superhero movies.

The Justice League figure is only just off Thor: Ragnarok’s massive sales, which opened to $54.7 million in China earlier this month.  By comparison, Thor: Ragnarok has gotten $108.4 million in Chinese sales since its premiere. At this rate, Justice League is on track to match its huge revenue.
