FX and Ryan Murphy are making a new drama series titled Pose, a 1980s-set pilot that has cast five transgender actors in series regular roles.

The project held a six-month nationwide casting search and it is set to make history for having the largest number of transgender actors in series regular roles for a scripted series.

Among the history-making cast are MJ Rodriguez (Nurse JackieThe Carrie Diaries, and Luke Cage), Indya Moore (Saturday Church), Dominique Jackson (fashion model and icon within New York ball community), Hailie Sahar (Mr. Robot and Transparent), Angelica Ross (Transparent and Claws).  Each will be play authentic transgender characters.

Additional casting includes Ryan Jamaal Swain, Billy Porter, and Dyllon Burnside.  Further casting will be announced in the future.

Murphy is known for his work such as Glee and American Horror Story.

Steven Canals is writing the script for the show with Our Lady J (Transparent) and transgender rights activist and New York Times best-selling author Janet Mock.  Trans activist director Silas Howard will co-executive produce.  Pose will also bring on emerging transgender directors to be mentored.

Pose is a drama set in 1980s New York, centering on the rise of luxury, the downtown social and literary scene, and ball culture world.  The series is set to begin production next month in New York.
