Stephen Amell Says Oliver Gets a New Bow in ‘Arrow’ Season Six
The CW likes to consistently update the gear of its superheroes, so it’s no surprise that fresh off the news of a new Green Arrow costume, comes a first look at his new bow in the trailer for Arrow’s season six premiere.
Star Stephen Amell first revealed the news of a new bow in a Q&A at San Diego Comic-Con.
“It’s a lot like the Season one bow,” he said, confirming it’s a recurve bow. “And not really for any particular reason. I was just like, ‘guys, it’s time.’ I wanted to go a little old school.”
For the last few seasons, the character has used a compound bow, which uses a pulley system. These bows are thought to be more efficient and accurate.
Recurve bows are said to require more strength, so the archer must have more skill to use them.
It doesn’t seem like producers would suddenly have Oliver switch bows in season six for no reason, so it will be interesting to see if there’s a story behind the new weapon.
Arrow’s sixth season premieres Thursday, Oct. 12 at 9 pm on The CW.
