It came as a surprise to longtime fans of Cartoon Network’s The Powerpuff Girls when it was announced that there would be a new fourth member of the family.

Rumors then began to circulate that the new Powerpuff Girl was black. Now, that fact has been confirmed by Cartoon Network’s international marketing and the actress who voices her.

In the channel’s Russian 2017 reel, the new character can be seen at the 1:42 mark.

Actress Toya Delazy also tweeted a picture of herself in the studio with the caption, “And just like that I became a Powerpuff Girl. Much love to my Cartoon Network for trusting me with this epic job,”

The Powerpuff Girls follows sisters Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as they use their superpowers to save Townsville, in a reboot of the popular original cartoon. There’s no word yet on the name of the new character, but it will probably start with a B.

How do you feel about finally seeing a black Powerpuff Girl?
