Lionsgate’s upcoming Hellboy reboot has made headlines quite a few times in the past week. Deadpool‘s Ed Skrein who was originally cast as Ben Daimio announced that he would be stepping down due to recent whitewashing controversy. Then, producers Lloyd Levin and Larry Gordon, released a statement promising fans that they will commit to casting an Asian actor as the character. Today, we get a new addition to the cast in Hemlock Grove‘s Penelope Mitchell.

Mitchell will be playing Ganeida who is described as “an elder witch who has decided that Nimue’s wrath has gone on for too long and must be stopped.”. You may also recognize her from The CW’s Vampire Diaries. Penelope will star alongside Stranger Things‘ David Harbour who says the upcoming reboot won’t be an origin story.
