The CW Will Air Entire ‘Vixen’ Animated Series as Two Hour Movie

Fans of The CW’s Arrowverse will finally get to see the animated adventures of Vixen on TV. The network is airing the entire series as a 2-hour movie Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 8 pm.

Vixen follows Mari McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke) as she figures out her family’s ancient totem actually gives her the ability to channel the power of animals.

Viewers got to see Mari in action when she helped Oliver fight Damien Darhk in season four of Arrow.

The series features appearances from other CW superhero regulars Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards and Katie Cassidy from Arrow, Grant Gustin and Carlos Valdes of The Flash and Brandon Routh, Franz Drameh and Victor Garber from Legends of Tomorrow.

Heads up, some of these episodes aired well before current Arrowverse storylines, so the characters will reference older plots and situations.

Mari McCabe showed up in live action form in the season four episode of Arrow, Taken, where Oliver’s son was kidnapped by Damien Darhk.

Vixen is a regular on Legends of Tomorrow, where she is Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), Mari’s grandmother.

Legends of Tomorrow’s Amaya chose to stay on the Waverider and not return to her own time so she could continue her romance with Nate.

In the animated series, Mari’s sister Kuasa, played by Anika Noni Rose, is her jealous nemesis. In the upcoming season of Legends of Tomorrow, Kuasa will once again cause trouble, this time portrayed by Tracy Ifeachor.

Vixen airs Wednesday, Aug. 30 at 8 pm on The CW.
