The X-Men Universe in the comics and the movies has never shied away from exploring the romances between characters. You have Jean Grey and Cyclops, Rogue and Gambit, Colossus and Kitty Pryde, Charles Xavier and Lilandra. There are definitely many more romantic relationships and even some love triangles through the X-Men canon that makes for in depth storytelling. But unless you are an avid comic-book reader, you probably wouldn’t know that Storm and Wolverine also shared a romance in an alternate universe.
Recently, actress Halle Berry who portrays Storm in the live action X-Men films did an interview with People Magazine and Entertainment Weekly editorial director Jess Cagle and revealed that her character and the character Logan portrayed by Hugh Jackman did in fact have a romance. Check out her comments below:
“Storm and Logan used to be lovers. It’s true. Storm and Logan had a thing. I joke in the movies, I’m like, ‘How come nobody’s loving on Storm.’ Like what’s wrong with Storm? Nobody is checking for Storm. So, we decided that Storm and Logan had a thing, and then Jean came and messed that up.”
In a scene that never made the final cut of the Bryan Singer directed X-Men: Days Of Future Past, Wolverine is preparing to travel back in time. He and Storm share a brief moment where she is saying goodbye and they share an intimate kiss. Berry went on to explain whether their romance lasted or if the flame went out:
“When he really decided that Jean Grey was his [love] … that caused a problem. Storm was heartbroken in the aftermath. The having two girls at once thing, that didn’t work for … that doesn’t work for Storm.”
Why Logan? Why couldn’t you just let Scott have Jean and embrace the heart of this African Goddess that is Ororo Monroe? Sounds like he got the short end of the mutant stick. No offense Jean but you got a lot of baggage. What do you think GOC fam? Do you think the scene of Logan and Storm sharing a kiss should have stayed in the final cut of the movie? Are you a supporter of the Logan/Storm romance or do you prefer the Logan/Jean Grey romance that was force fed down our throats? Let us know in the comments below.
