Though it hasn’t been confirmed yet, it’s looking like Catfish directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman are in talks for writing and directing a new Mega Man movie. In addition to them, Heroes’ Masi Oka will be serving as a producer.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox has been working to secure the rights for a Mega Man film for two years, and finally acquired them last winter. In addition to the film, there’s going to be a new Mega Man show on Cartoon Network. Whether the show and the movie will be connected at all is unclear so far.

So far, Joost and Schulman have directed Catfish, Paranormal Activity 3 & 4, and Nerve, which makes the jump to Mega Man seem a little strange. Regardless, Mega Man as a series has been dwindling in popularity in recent years, so maybe fresh eyes is exactly what this adaptation needs.
