For a lot of people, Adam West was only known as Batman, but in reality, he also had a career as a talented voice actor, having worked in multiple shows like Kim Possible, The Fairly OddParents, Rugrats, Johnny Bravo, Chicken Little, Animaniacs, The Batman, Family Guy,… to name a few.

In Family Guy, he had what we would call a recurring role, having appeared on the show in more than 100 episodes (111 to be precise) as Mayor West. And it seems we haven’t seen the end of him, even though Adam West is no longer with us.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Steve Callaghan stated that Adam West had recorded five more episodes of the show, scheduled to air this Fall.

When asked about if they (Seth MacFarlane and the writers) have discussed not airing these episodes, Callaghan responded:

“No. He’s such an integral part of the series that it never even occurred to us to take that out. I would almost feel like that was somehow not properly honouring him. I think the proper way to honour him is to keep the character in the show. There were two or three episodes where his character had been written in, but he hadn’t yet recorded those, so obviously we’ve made accommodations for that. There was one scene where he was officiating a wedding, and it was easy enough to just have a different character do that. I [wouldn’t] even consider having someone come in and try to imitate his voice.”

We still miss Adam West, but laughing with one of his beloved characters seems like a proper way to say goodbye.
