Another show has been checked off the remake list. British sci-fi cult hit Misfits has gotten a pilot order at Freeform for its American remake.

The series follows five teenagers from different backgrounds as they fulfill their community service. Things get crazy when an electrical storm gives them special powers.

Diane Ruggiero-Wright (iZombie, Veronica Mars) is writing and producing, and will be the showrunner if the project is picked up.

So far the cast includes Ashleigh Lathrop as spoiled party girl Alicia, Tre Hall as cocky, star athlete Curtis, Jake Cannavale as arrogant, con artist Nathan and Allie MacDonald as street-smart, quick-tempered Kelly.

Not listed is Simon, an extremely smart yet painfully shy and damaged loner. In the original he was played by Iwan Rheon (Marvel’s Inhumans, Game of Thrones) in his breakout role. It is possible he will still be included the show and just hasn’t been cast yet.

Original creator Howard Overman will executive produce alongside Josh Schwartz, Stephanie Savage and Ruggiero-Wright.

What are your thoughts on a Misfits remake?
