Hollywood is in the middle of reboot/remake mania and nothing is safe. The latest beloved property to be remade is the anime series Cowboy Bebop.

Ok, before everyone flies off the handle, this is all in the very early stages so take a deep breath.

According to Variety, ITV Studios is developing the show with Tomorrow Studios and Marty Adelstein. The script is being written by Chris Yost, who previously worked on The Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. He is also working on the script for the Sony Spider-Man spinoff Silver & Black.

Cowboy Bebop focuses on a team of bounty hunters travelling through space in 2071 on their ship the Bebop. The series has a very unique look, tone and style, which frankly may not adapt well to live-action TV. Also, depending on which network the show ends up on, there may be lots of changes made to accommodate TV production.

The series has a very loyal fanbase who are already expressing misgivings about this news, so if the finished product is lackluster producers can expect a full force of nerd rage.

So what are your thoughts on a Cowboy Bebop live-action TV series? Will you watch or boycott?
