There’s a Transformers spin-off coming soon from Paramount focusing on the famous Bumblebee, and word is that Hailee Steinfeld is in talks for the lead role.

The new movie Bumblebee will be under the direction of Laika CEO Travis Knight and this will be his live-action debut.  He previously directed Oscar-nominated Kubo and the Two Strings and had a hand in many well-known animated works such as CoralineBoxtrolls, and ParaNorman.

Much of this spin-off movie is still unknown; the plot is under wraps and details of Steinfeld’s potential character has not been teased.  We do know that Bumblebee will be the first Transformers spin-off movie to be created within the same universe but not in the same franchise.

The movie has been penned by Christina Hodson who only recently joined the writing team just last year when the studio began flushing out the ideas for the spin-off movies.  Producers for Bumblebee will include Michael Bay, Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Brian Goldner, Stephen Davis, Knight, Mark Vahradian, and Steven Spielberg.

Hailee Steinfeld is well-known for her Oscar-nominated role in True Grit (2010) and her inclusion in the Pitch Perfect series.  She continues to rise on the big screen as she is fresh from her newest movie The Edge of Seventeen which earned her a Golden Globe nomination.

How do you feel about Bumblebee and Stenfield’s potential lead role in this movie?  Are you excited to see what the spin-offs have in store?  Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
