Actress Rosario Dawson, who is set to reprise her fan-favorite role as Claire Temple in the upcoming Marvel Netflix series,  The Defenders, is currently in talks for a role in the X-men spinoff New Mutants.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dawson will play Dr. Cecilia Reyes whose mutant ability is to create protective force fields that are tied to her very life force. Reyes would serve as the mentor for the younger mutants in the film.

Dawson would join already announced cast members, Anya Taylor-Joy and Maisie Williams who will play Illyana Rasputin/Magik and Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane respectively.

It was revealed earlier that New Mutants would have the tone of a horror film; much different from the original X-men franchise amd will focus on the teen mutants coming to terms with their newfound powers.

There’s no word yet on which other mutants might be added to the fray, but do you like Rosario as Dr. Cecilia Reyes? Be sure to let us know in the comments below.

New Mutants is slated to hit the big screen on April 13, 2018.

  1. Not bad as far as thinking about outside of the box characters or better yet characters who aren’t as known. But the time line is off Dr. Reyes was introduced well after the New Mutants began. Then again this is the Faux/Fox movie verse so I digress…
