Warner Bros. have just begun to focus their attention on The Flash film, with other DCEU films set to hit theatres, or in production. However, two big pieces of Flash news have just dropped, most likely inhibiting the film from arriving on its original March 16, 2018 release date.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Sam Raimi as well as Matthew Vaughn and Robert Zemeckis, were being considered to direct The Flash. However, the Spider-Man filmmaker has reportedly passed on the project, according to EW.

This leaves Vaughn and Zemeckis in the running, though it may be difficult in the scheduling department to get either one of them to sign on. Vaughn has yet to commit due to a potential Kingsman 3, and Zemeckis is working on a yet-titled film starring Steve Carell that’s scheduled to begin production in August.

Entertainment Weekly has also reported that actor Billy Crudup will no longer appear in the film as Barry Allen’s father Henry. No reason is cited for this unexpected development, through scheduling or storyline could be the cause. (Update: According to sources close to production, Crudup is still on board to play Barry Allen’s father.)

Interestingly enough, the Justice League trailer does confirm Crudup’s presence, and it will be interesting to see what becomes of his character.

Our first glimpse of Ezra Miller’s Flash arrives with Justice League, on Nov. 17, 2017. As for the Flash standalone film, it is unlikely that we’ll be seeing it anytime soon.
