In the last two months, there has been a lot of news about the film adaptation of Becky Albertelli’s young adult novel Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda. This week, it has been confirmed that actor Josh Duhamel has joined the cast. He will play the father of the main character Simon, according to this tweet from Albertelli:

Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens’ Agenda revolves around a closeted gay teen who is blackmailed into being friends with his classmate Martin. If he doesn’t do what is asked of him, the whole school could learn of his sexuality and the identity of his e-mail pen pal. The book is well-loved and was nominated for 2015’s National Book Award.
