Injustice 2 Trailer Recap: The Lines Are Redrawn

Surely by now you’ve seen the trailer for Injustice 2, right? No? Well, watch it above. You done? Good, let’s talk about it briefly.

From the very beginning of the trailer, it’s clear that they’re following the story of the first game, and building upon that for the sequel. The narrator basically tells us that that alliances between friends and family will be broken, and things won’t be so “black and white” for the heroes and villains anymore. Plus, new alliances will be made in light of a “new threat” that’s looming over them, and threatening Earth.

One thing we noticed is that there a couple of new characters this time around. Supergirl and Blue Beetle were confirmed months ago, but this trailer shows us that Robin (Damian Wayne), Poison Ivy, and Bane will be featured in this game. We’re unsure if they’ll be playable, but it’s very likely they will be. As well as those three, it looks like Brainiac might be this “new threat” that the narrator – who is also probably Brainiac himself – spoke of. And even cooler, Darkseid will be available as a playable character if you pre-order the game. Super lit.

From the trailer alone, it’s clear that there are going to be some positive changes in this game. As for the storyline, it’s unclear as to exactly what’s happening, but it looks like Batman and Superman may have to squash their beef and work together to stop this new threat. What’s most important about this game is that they don’t just create a cheap repeat of the story from the first one, because while most people don’t buy fighting games for their compelling story, that doesn’t mean we don’t deserve one.

Check out the game’s synopsis, as well as some character artwork and stills from the trailer below!

“Injustice 2 is NetherRealm Studios’ super-powered sequel to the hit game Injustice: Gods Among Us that allows players to build and power up the ultimate version of their favorite DC characters. Featuring a massive selection of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains, Injustice 2 continues the epic cinematic story introduced in Injustice: Gods Among Us as Batman and his allies work towards putting the pieces of society back together while struggling against those who want to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat appears that will put Earth’s existence at risk.”
