Last week Oscar-winning writer/director Jordan Peele revealed the first teaser poster for his next political horror film, Us. The world has finally stopped sleeping on Peele’s talents and the industry has taken notice for the next year looks to be jam-packed for the star. Deadline has just revealed the project that Peele and his production studio, Monkeypaw Productions, will be diving into next. Fans can now expect to see Peele write and direct Us while also co-producing a new series for Amazon Studios.

Inspired by true events, The Hunt is a drama focused on a diverse group of Nazi hunters living in 1977 New York City. The hunters discover that hundreds of high ranking Nazi officials that have been secretly living in society are planning to build a Fourth Reich. Not dissimilar to the current real-life Nazis that finally got brave enough (thanks to politicians) to walk outside and band together. The Hunt will show viewers the bloody path of justice that the hunters will leave behind as they move on their mission to stop evil.

The show was created by David Weil, who has another sci-fi thriller project, Moonfall, in development. Weil will write and executive produce. Sonar Entertainment took the project into the marketplace for Weil and found a buyer with Amazon Studios. Peele and Monkeypaw Productions were then brought in to join. Peele released an official statement in which he described his excitement for the show.

“When David Weil first shared The Hunt with me, I immediately knew that we had to be involved. It’s cathartic. It’s noir. It’s frighteningly relevant. It’s exactly what I want to see on television. I am thrilled to be working with Amazon in bringing this incredible vision to the world”

The head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, also shared her thoughts on The Hunt and its future being streamed on Prime Video.

“Our biggest priority is attracting exceptional writing and producing talent to bring addictive, groundbreaking projects to Prime Video. The Hunt is edge-of-your-seat entertainment that is not only culturally relevant but deliciously original. David Weil, Jordan Peele, and the entire Monkeypaw and Sonar Entertainment teams represent the dream team! We can’t wait to get started!”

The Hunt has received a 10-episode straight-to-series order with a release date to be announced at a later time. Do you have Amazon Prime and will you stream The Hunt? Prime members who do not take advantage of streaming content from Jordan Peele are basically throwing their money away. Let us know how excited you are to stream a show about people killing Nazis in the comments below or on social media and make sure to keep The Hunt on your radar!
