Captain Marvel will be Marvel’s first official feature to be led by a woman, and Brie Larson will star as Carol Danvers a.k.a Captain Marvel. The film is slated to release on March 8, 2019, which is International Women’s Day. One-half of the directing duo is Anna Boden, who is Marvel’s first woman director. Boden is directing with partner Ryan Fleck. The feature was also scripted by Liz Flahive, Meg LeFauve, Nicole Perlman, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.

“It’s an incredible honor to be a part of the Marvel Universe…. I have so many people to thank for helping me on this journey but first and foremost, my incredible agents Laura Engel and Richard Kraft for believing in me from day one.”

Toprak earned her degree from Boston’s Berklee College of Music and Cal State Northridge. She programmed at Hans Zimmer’s studio. She has been composing since the early 2000’s and has scored for video games, TV, and films. Captain Marvel will be her biggest film score, yet.

Captain Marvel is shaping up to be a nice celebration of women and could not be coming at a better time.
