The adaptation of Alan Moore’s famous graphic novel will be “Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.”

Details are still scarce, more details may emerge in the coming weeks as the show begins the process of filling out the cast for the rest of the series. So far our star-studded cast includes: Regina King (Seven Seconds), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman), Jeremy Irons (Justice League), Don Johnson (Book Club), Tim Blake Nelson (The True Don Quixote), Tim Mison (Sleepy Hollows), Louis Gossett Jr. (Hap and Leonard), and many more.

The announcement of the series order follows speculation that HBO will be aggressively beef up their TV line up. With Game of Thrones coming to an end HBO has lined up several projects to potentially take it’s spot. For example: Jordan Peele and Misha Green’s Lovecraft Country, J.J. Abrams Demimonde, and Joss Whedon’s The Nevers.
