Award winning actress, Taraji P. Henson has had quite the career. She’s played everything from a NASA mathematician in Hidden Figures alongside Janelle Monae and Octavia Spencer, to a contract killer opposite Alicia Keys and Ryan Reynolds in Smokin’ Aces.
To me, there is nothing she cannot do.
Henson is currently balancing the wave of critical and box office acclaim that came with Hidden Figures, with the third season of Empire underway (returning March 22), where she plays the beloved, Cookie Lyon.
One thing she hasn’t had the opportunity to do is play a Marvel superhero and according to an interview with the New York Times, it’s on Henson’s to-do list!
When asked what’s on her wish list she replied:
“I’d love to play a Marvel superhero.”
Well, I think I speak for many when I say, I’d love to see Taraji play a Marvel superhero as well!
One character that hasn’t already been cast that comes to mind as soon as I think of Henson is Monica Rambeau aka Spectrum (Mighty Avengers, The Ultimates, Captain Marvel) – smart, savvy, and a larger-than-life personality. Seems right up Taraji’s alley.
I could also see Henson portray Sage (X-treme X-men, Excalibur, Exiles). She is intelligent, regal, mysterious and can definitely kick butt.
Later this month, Henson will begin production on her new film, Proud Mary, where she plays an assassin who discovers she has a maternal instinct.
