*Spoilers for those who have not seen Spider-Man: Homecoming*

If you’ve seen the film, you’ll remember that it ended with Peter Parker assuming that Tony Stark was testing him by telling him that there were press waiting for the reveal of the new Avenger. However, Parker turned down Tony’s offer and wanted to stick with being the “friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man”, but we could’ve gotten something much different and more in line with the Civil War comics.

See, the comics had Peter unite himself with pro-registration front and unmask himself in front of hundreds of reporters as he revealed his secret identity to the public. Well, writers John Daley and Jonathan Goldstein have revealed that that’s what was initially intended in the original draft of the script, Peter would not actually reveal his identity to the public though, as explained below,

That scene with the press behind the door, that started off as a more clear opportunity for Peter to say to the world, ‘I Peter Parker, am Spider-Man,'” Goldstein stated. “And he decides not to do it and walks away. It’s still that, but it had been set up that if he could just tell the world who he is, he would get all his problems solved and be loved by everyone.”
Well, what do you guys think? Would this have been a better avenue for the film? I personally enjoyed what the film went with! Let us know in the comments down below!
