World-renowned athlete, writer, and humanitarian Serena Williams recently took time out of her busy schedule to not only make sure she sawBlack Panther but that a deserving group of girls got to see it as well.
Black Girls Code is an organization whose focus is on providing young black girls with technological education. The group was founded in 2011 and offers programs in computer programming, website, robot and mobile app building and even coding. Their mission is to provide African-American youth with the skills needed in order to occupy the 1.4 million computing job openings that are expected to be on the market in 2020.
While it would appear that the group did know that Serena was behind them getting to see the film, they were not aware that she would be seeing the movie with them until she walked through the door. Their reaction to her entrance was caught on film and posted to Instagram by co-owner of Reddit and William’s husband, Alexis Ohanian. Check it out below.
