It’s no secret that the young Han Solo movie has been mired in controversy. The firing of original directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller, and subsequent hiring of Academy Award winner Ron Howard has left fans nervous about the film’s finished product.

However, in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Howard reassured the Star Wars universe that the film is “coming along great.”

“It’s a fantastic script, a great cast and I am having a fantastic creative experience with it,” he said. “It’s a great young cast, incredibly strong, smart, funny people who love their characters and love being part of this. I think we’ll be able to do something that is a lot of fun.”

Like most directors of his generation, Howard has been vocal over the years about the influence Star Wars had on him.

His Twitter timeline is full of behind-the-scenes photos that portray his real enthusiasm for the franchise.

So it appears the Millenium Falcon is in good hands.

Directed by Ron Howard and starring Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo, Emilia Clarke, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams, Thandie Newton and Woody Harrelson, the young Han Solo movie jumps into theaters May 25, 2018.
