A gentle breeze just flew in. By now, you’ve likely heard of Raising Kanan, the hit spin-off from 50 Cent’s ever-expanding Power Universe that started with Power in 2014.
What began as a gritty crime saga has grown into a full-blown cultural movement, catapulting Omari Hardwick (Ghost) and Joseph Sikora (Tommy) into the spotlight and spawning multiple successful spin-offs. Among them, Raising Kanan has carved out its own legacy.
If you’ve been living under a rock or just haven’t caught up, here are a few reasons you should stay informed.
🚨 Last chance to bounce—spoilers ahead. 🚨
Season 4 left fans on a massive cliffhanger, with higher stakes than ever. However, one thing the Raising Kanan team finally did? Deliver the moment Power fans have waited for years for: the reveal of Breeze and his full government name.
And not just that—he’s been cast.
Shameik Moore (known for Dope, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and voicing Miles Morales in Spider-Verse) has officially joined the Power Universe as one of Power lore’s most talked-about off-screen figures. Fans have speculated about Breeze’s identity since the early seasons of Power, and now we finally have a face to the name.

His entrance into Raising Kanan was subtle but loaded with weight. A long-standing mystery within the franchise, Breeze is known in Power mythology as Kanan’s mentor and Ghost’s first major target—the man Ghost famously killed in order to take control of his destiny. His role in shaping Kanan (and indirectly, Ghost and Tommy) makes him one of the most significant puzzle pieces in the saga’s timeline.
Casting Moore in the role sets the tone for a dramatic and intense stretch of Season 5. Looking through the previous roles Moore has played, he will no doubt be able to step into the role of Breeze with no issue.
What This Means for the Power Universe

Now that Breeze is here, fans can chill out with the “Nique is Breeze” theories. His appearance opens up new layers, and possibly even new betrayals, that could ripple all the way to the events that launched Power itself. Whether you’re excited, surprised, or side-eyeing the choice, one thing’s for sure: you’ll want to be locked in from here on out.
Just when you thought the Power Universe was wrapping up, think again. STARZ has officially ordered a fourth Power spinoff, Power:Origins, which will explore the early days of Ghost and Tommy before their rise to kingpin status. While nothing has been confirmed yet about who will portray the younger versions of the iconic duo, one thing is clear— with Breeze finally stepping into the story, young Ghost and Tommy can’t be too far behind. The foundation is being laid, and Power fans should stay ready.
Season 1-4 of Raising Kanan are Now Streaming On STARZ.
Set in South Jamaica, Queens, in 1991, Raising Kanan is a prequel to the original Power franchise, telling the origin story of Kanan Stark—the mentor, partner, and eventual adversary to Ghost and Tommy. But before the game turned him cold, he was just a 15-year-old kid raised by his mother, Raquel “Raq” Thomas, a rising queenpin running a growing drug empire. It’s a family drama exploring the complexities of identity, loyalty, betrayal, and legacy and how those closest to you often inflict the deepest damage.
