Today, USA Network announced that their popular television series, Queen of the South, would be renewed for season three.

The show that stars Alice Braga is based on the book by Arturo Pérez-Reverte called, La Reina del Sur. Braga plays the main character, Teresa Mendoza while she’s on the run from a Mexican drug cartel.

In the current season, Mendoza has had to learn the tricks of the drug trade while forming an alliance with the estranged wife of her enemy. The season two finale will air on August 31.

Showruner Natalie Chaidez will be back for next season and will also continue to co-produce alongside David T. Friendly and Pancho Mansfield.
